Torchiere – Illuminating the Passion for Dance

Torchiere (pronouned “tour-she-AIR” or “tour-SHARE”) (fka “Death By Dance”) was formed in mid-2009 by a group of dance enthusiasts for the purpose of promoting dance, especially West Coast Swing in Singapore and the rest of Asia. It also serves as a platform to showcase the talents of the members. Torchiere members have performed locally and regionally and have won both the En La Pasion 2009 couple and team categories. All full-time working adults, Torchiere members are bond by a common passion for all dance forms which include WCS, Night Club 2-Step, Argentine Tango, Salsa and Bachata. Their strengths lie in their ability to fuse these various dance forms into beautiful routines which showcase the best of these dances.
As the first performance team to showcase West Coast Swing dancing to the general public at the DANS Festival 2009 in Singapore, they will be doing an encore performance at the Salsa Cruise Asia Grand Opening Concert on Sunday, 22 November 2009.
