Albert Chung (Resident Instructor from USA)

Albert is from Los Angeles, California which is also the home of where West Coast Swing (WCS) originated from.  He has been dancing since 1995 and is proficient in many of the social club dances that are not only popular in the USA but also worldwide.  Such dances include Argentine Tango, Bachata, Country 2-Step, Hustle, Night Club 2-Step (NC2S), Salsa, Street Cha Cha and WCS.    He started traveling and teaching in Asia back in 2006 and was the first to introduce and promote WCS to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore & Malaysia.  Currently, he is teaching in Singapore & Malaysia where he continues to promote other forms of new dances (BachataTango, Country 2-Step, Hustle, Night Club 2-Step) as well as existing dances that are already popular.  He is also a registered Guest Trainer for the People’s Association (PA) and plans to offer new dance courses (including Mambo Jambo) throughout the various community centres/clubs within Singapore

Albert is also collaborating with various groups & organizations such as People’s Association (PA), Studio UP, Singapore Dance Club (Meetup.com), Singapore Salsa & Argentine Tango Club (Meetup.com), Outcast Dance Studio and West Coast Swing Singapore to promote social dancing.

Melody Yeo (Resident Instructor)

Melody is a certified Line Dance Instructor accredited with Professional Association of Linedancers (PAL) certificate approved by People’s Association of Singapore. In addition she holds a United Kingdom Alliance (UKA) certificate in dance teaching as well as the G.R.A.C.E. (Geriatric Research And Continuing Education) certification for Social Line Dance Instructors.  She has been teaching Line Dancing since 2002.

Back in 2005, Melody discovered West Coast Swing (WCS) and finally had the opportunity to learn WCS from an overseas instructor (Albert Chung) who was visiting Singapore in 2007.  To further her knowledge in WCS, she traveled to Los Angeles for several months and received intensive training from many of the top WCS Champions in the world.  By passing the West Coast 101 exam administered by the World Swing Dance Council, she is the first & only Singaporean certified and approved by the Golden State Dance Teachers Association (GSDTA) to teach WCS.  The West Coast 101 exam is recognized worldwide as the only certification for West Coast Swing.  Melody is the only qualified instructor recognized by People’s Association to teach WCS in Singapore.

Milestones

• Attended Halloween Swingthing 2010 from 28~31 October and participated in the following contests: WCS ProAm Novice (with Ben Morris), WCS Jack & Jill Novice, WCS Jack & Jill All American, 3rd Place in Hustle ProAm Novice (with Kevin Cruz), 3rd Place in Hustle Strictly Open (with Jessie Casteneda) and 5th Place in Hustle Jack & Jill All American (with Kevin Cruz).
• Attended Paradise Country Dance Festival 2010  from 13~15 October.
• Attended GSDTA West Coast 101 on 14~17 September 2010 which was conducted by Skippy Blair with assistance from Mary Ann Nunez, Sharlott Bott, Sarah Grusmarck.  Became certified on 28 September 2010.
• Attended Palm Springs Swing Dance Classic 2010 from 13~15 August and participated in the following contests: WCS Jack & Jill Novice Level and Night Club 2-Step Open Level.

Irene Lee (Finance & Accounting)

Irene has been a strong enthusiast of dancing. As a child, her parents sent her to ballet lessons. Throughout her schooling years, she has always volunteered to lead a group of students in concert presentations and choreographed performance items for school events. Now, as an adult, the stage is her “playground” often performing for charity shows, community club events, etc. Today, she is also a self-groomed Master of Ceremony for many events.

Irene is an accountant by profession, earning her F.C.C.A. (UK) status through self study. She spent 23 years in the corporate world as General Manager/Finance Director of a Swiss conglomerate dealing with high end luxury products. Dance passion is so intense in her that she has decided to make dancing her venture and help manage the Financial & Accounting operations of the studio.
